Description

This course prepares students as early childhood teachers to foster the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of young children. It provides training hours in 8 competency areas required for the Child Development Associate Credential; Planning a safe and healthy learning environment, Advancing children’s physical and intellectual development, Supporting children’s social and emotional development, Building productive relationships with families, Managing an effective program operation, Maintaining a commitment to professionalism, Observing and recording children’s behavior, and Understanding principles of child development and learning. It supports students in developing cultural competence necessary for working in indigenous communities. Students will complete a practicum field placement.
